The film Prototype a USC thesis film is a story that deals with empathy, identity and the oppression experienced by class levels told through a sub genre of science fiction called Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism deals with issues in the black community's past and present through futuristic stories. Some Afrofuturist artists include: Octavia Butler, Samuel R. Delaney. It's style is also featured in the 2018 film Black Panther.

CHRISTOPHER ORTEGA is a writer-director born in Queens, New York and raised in Ocala, Florida. He attributes his love for the arts to his father who exposed him to music and cinema classics as a child. He is an alumnus of Morehouse College where he studied business finance and minored in the newly founded film studies program funded by Spike Lee.
